‘No fear in Rainbow Avenue’ is Federica Terracina and Incredible Fox’s solo exhibition which enacts a multivision of terror, achieved in individual terms and stimulated in others through a project based on relationships called “Accettati” (Accept Yourself).
The dual nature with which the artist refers to herself – as a human and savage creature at the same time, as identified in the figure of Incredible Fox – reflects a healthy and active visionary approach, kept alive by a passionate irony – sharp and subtle as befits the most elaborate weapon. Incredible Fox is not a mere visionary projection of the self, but rather a mature acknowledgment of the otherness acquired after long gestation and empowered to live an individual life. An ‘other subject’ with a sharp guise with which to ‘live together’, with the detachment that allows the assimilation of the impulse of mood and solicitations, as useful contingencies for personal growth. Federica Terrancina’s unique talent is twofold, allowing the occurrence of a state-of-transparency capable of receiving and yet far from any ambiguity that such a virtue can create if restricted to unspoken tensions that are not examined in terms of dynamic and productive potential. This tendency has its own importance, depending on the centrality to be found in the subjective interchange and the value of reciprocity, within interventions conceived on the basis of relational dynamics, of which a project such as ‘Accettati’ (Accept Yourself) is interwoven.
Created in 2013 and still evolving, “Accettati” (Accept Yourself) is made up of a collection of materials about people who, participating, accept the artist’s request to communicate their own relationship with the world of monsters, or who ‘accept’ to do so through her, thus transforming an intimate exploration into an immediate sharing experience, originated by a call for help. In Federica Terracina and Incredible Fox’s words: It is a private journey, on the lookout for our own monsters. Who are they? Where are they? Why do they grow up with us? How to learn to listen to your own silence. ‘No fear in Rainbow Avenue’, deals with terror that is sweetened by the right amount of irony and which branches out into visionary hues, which are both intimate and belonging to those who were brave enough to reveal the beasts suppressed by their own silence. Visions appearing as allegories made up of intense colours, many-sided, where the contrast between black & white becomes a means to capture the apotheosis of a society that supports the daily enactment of the terror-horror.
Federica Terracina and Incredible Fox, embrace solitude of those who lucidly observe such mass delirium and oppose resistance, guarding ferociously the space reserved for play. This is the space where the multivision of terror occurs, a demystification carried out by refined layers of awareness. Universes in which reflective plans come into being, versatile identities expose and conceal sought after figures, irreverent details often markedly kitsch. Fears are faced, examined and then disposed of to maintain purposeful impulses and to create enough joy to give love. Giving love with the colours that are available, doing away with it if necessary. Continually suspended and in a state-of-transparency.
To conclude with the artist’s thoughts: from a hell without boredom of ‘those who hold back so as not to fly away’ and ‘those who celebrate and smile at their own death, in order to recall the happiness and condemnation of those who never surrender’.
